Tuesday- Passive transport in cells discussion; Set up Osmosis lab (Nurse’s dilemma- design your own lab), Start Eggs-periment (vinegar)
Wednesday- Review Osmosis; Day 2 of Eggsperiment (syrup); find mass of potatoes for Osmosis lab; Plasmolysis of cells lab; Cell transport review
Thursday- Active transport review; Wrap up Osmosis lab by collecting final data; Day 3 of Eggsperiment (water)
Friday- 1/2 class period review stations; 1/2 class period working on writing portion of Cell project

Monday- Intro the microscope lab; reviewed types of microscopes; Biochemistry binder check
Tuesday- Reviewed cell theory & compared pro/eukaryotic cells; Students were assigned either the Endosymbiosis lesson, Story of Little Mito or Pro/Eukaryotic cell POGIL depending on pretest score in that area. Reviewed new unit assignment sheet and overview of Cell project
Wednesday & Thursday- overview of Cell organelle structure/function; Students assigned different cell labs and reinforcement depending on pretest score in that area; all students to complete Golgi/ER reading assignment. Microscope quiz on Wednesday 🙂
Friday- Discussing structure/function of the plasma membrane. Students will complete Modeling cell permeability lab and will be assigned reinforcement depending on their pretest score in that area.

Posted on Aug 22nd 2016 This week in Honors Biology Monday- Start Macromolecules (Carbs & Lipids); Dehydration synthesis cutout group will have time to work on this in class; if you had the D. Synthesis gizmo it is due at the beginning of class; Biological Molecules POGIL Tuesday- finish up Macromolecules with Proteins & Nucleic acids; Murder & a Meal lab (testing for macromolecules). This lab will be your “write up” lab for this unit; Enzyme POGIL for homework to prepare for Wednesday Wednesday and Thursday- Enzyme structure & function; Enzyme & temperature lab (jello lab) set up Wed & finish up Thurs; Enzyme graphing and CER Enzyme testing lab
Friday- Unit 2A Biochemistry Test and Cell Pretest
