Originally from the Cumberland Gap, Tennessee area, I am a Retired Navy Seabee veteran of 21 years. I participated in every major “operation” from Operation Just Cause in Panama in the 80’s till Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003 at which time I retired from the service. The Navy Seabee’s are a special force in the Navy that travel around the world providing construction support for the Navy and U.S. Marine Corps and disaster recovery for military and local communities. During my tenure, I participated in disaster recovery efforts such as Hurricane Hugo and the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989. While stationed in Guam, Micronesia in 1997, my unit assisted in the recovery from Typhoon Paka which had some of the strongest winds on record of 110mph sustained wind and gust of over 185mph for more than 24 hours causing more than $580 million dollars of damage and leaving 5000 islanders homeless.
In 2004 I retired from the service and moved to Denver, Colorado to be close to my two beautiful daughters. There I completed my Bachelor’s degree magna cum laude in K-6 elementary certification. Soon after I completed my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership summa cum laude with a minor in K-12 Space Science instruction from Regis University, a top rated private Jesuit University.
In 2014 I moved to Georgia where I have taught 12th grade physics, 5th grade elementary, and now, proud to be the engineering and technology teacher in one of the finest schools in the state. I have moved around quite a bit in my lifetime and I am happy and proud to say that I hope to spend the rest of my days here at McEachern. I continue to be impressed and hope to foster more alumni who I meet around town proudly proclaiming themselves graduates of McEachern.
I would also encourage parents and friends of McEachern, especially those with engineering and technical backgrounds, to join us and share your experiences with our future citizens and help me, help them, be prepared for future careers in engineering and technology. Thank you.
