Great job so far on mid-term maxes. Tuesday was Power Clean, Wednesday was Push-ups, today is Squats and tomorrow is Bench.

Overview:
Students are expected to dress out daily. This includes t-shirts, sweatshirts, shorts, or sweatpants. Students need to dress appropriately for the weather. All PE clothes must be appropriate. This means no profanity, as well as inappropriate pictures or writing. All t-shirts must have sleeves. Students are expected to dress out daily; a student who does not dress out will NOT receive points for that day. Makeups will be possible and announced at a later date by the teachers.
Why Weight Training?
The purpose of weight training is to promote the development of muscular strength and endurance, as well as a way to enjoy the benefits of regular physical activity. Students will learn to identify the major muscle groups and how to increase the performance of each of these groups through weight training. Weight training can build self-esteem and self-pride.
Safety Hazards: Things NOT allowed in the Weight Room
Headphones/Ipods, cell phones, book bags, phones, food, drinks, hats, or anything else that will interfere with the learning process are not allowed.
Grading Breakdown:
DAILY GRADE-ATTENDANCE, ACTIVE PARTICIPATION, DRESSING OUT= 55%
MAXES ON CORE LIFTS FITNESS GRAM = 20%
MIDTERM= 5%
FINAL EXAM= 20%
Re-Assessment: All students will be allowed to reassess o any of the standards for the course provided the following conditions are met.
- The student must attempt the original assessment.
- The student must complete a reasonable amount of accelerated interventions as assigned by the teacher (e.g. complete test corrections). The remediation may be done at home or in tutorials.
- The reassessment may be done within (10) class days from the time the original assessment was returned to the student.
**All Students need to bring a lock to secure their belongings during the class period.

Weight Training
Write one page paper on…(one for each day out of class)
- List and describe the positive effects of weight training on teenagers and the elderly.
- Identify and describe four principles of weight training. (Principle of Overload, Adaptation, Progression, and Specificity)
- Describe what happens to the muscle when lifting weights. Then explain why one should have 48hrs rest between workouts of the same muscle group.
- List and describe as many exercises we do in weight training class for our upper body.
- List and describe as many exercises we do in weight training class for our lower.
- Pick any weight gain or body enhancement supplement, research and describe ingredients, intended positive effects, direction for usage, side effects.
- Surgeon General Report on Physical Activity and Health (Read article and write one page summary identifying the main information).
- Using the resistance training resource provided, answer the 9 questions on a separate sheet of paper.
- Using the internet, go to each of the web pages asked on the worksheet to answer all the questions about physical fitness and weight training.
- Using XPE Sports resource, describe and explain each of the four section. (one paragraph per section.
The student must turn in upon return to class for credit.
