I am a native of Mobile, Alabama and retired after a 24 year naval career. During my career I traveled to over 30 countries and have had the chance to work with each branch of our military. I am not a recruiter, but I do believe the Navy’s Core Values- Honor, Courage and Commitment are fundamental character traits that will lead to success in life. NJROTC is about citizenship, community service, leadership and discipline. I am honored to have the opportunity to work with your student.
This is it!
*Last week was the end of Uniform Inspections and PT. If you missed a uniform or PT day and you want to replace a zero, I will accept make-ups until May 15th.
*It was brought to my attention the the crossword puzzle was jacked up. My apologies! It was computer generated and added an a at the beginning or an s at the end of words. If you completed it I gave you credit. If you didn’t, write the answers on a seperate sheet and turn them in.
*You have a choice of one of three final assignments:
1. Watch the movie “Taps” (you can find it on YouTube).
Give specific examples of 2 styles of leadership demonstrated by the cadet commander (NS1 Textbook pgs 51-52).
Give examples of how the cadet commander demonstrated Honor, Courage and commitment.
Lastly, discuss (in your opinion) if what they did worth it.
Paper should be at least a page (single spaced), but no more than a page and a half.
2. Pick someone you consider to be a leader. It could be a public figure or someone from your personal life. Why is this person a good leader? Use the terms discussed in the NS1 textbook under “Six Traits of an Effective Leader” and “Personal Qualities of an Effective Leader”. You can find them in the NS1 Textbook, pgs 56-60. Paper should be at least a page (single spaced), but no more than a page and a half.
3. As an American citizen, discuss the balance between rights and responsibilities during the Coronvirus Pandemic. Discuss your personal views on responsibility, accountability and leadership during this time in our country’s history. Paper should be at least a page (single spaced), but no more than a page and a half.
**All work must be completed by May 15th. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via email or remind.
