YEARBOOK APPLICATION PROCEDURES

1. Read this carefully and follow all of the instructions.

2. No freshmen or seniors are eligible to apply. Only rising sophomores and juniors are eligible to sign up for the yearbook staff as first-year students.

Course Description: Every year the students on the yearbook staff design, write, and distribute McEachern’s yearbook, The Jomehan. The students take very seriously the responsibility of creating a published record of the events of the school year. First year yearbook students study correct journalistic writing style and design; they write, report, and gather information; and they contribute to design ideas for the yearbook. Students must be successful in previous English classes to become a yearbook staffer. Second and third year yearbook students do extensive work in design, layout, and computer applications, as well as photography. Because of the unique nature of this class, yearbook students must be motivated, self-disciplined, responsible, and highly involved in the life of the school. To be on yearbook staff, you must be able to:

    • take yearbook as an elective year-round for the rest of your time at McEachern
    • demonstrate a command of English grammar, diction, and mechanics
    • complete this application completely and accurately

3. Neatly fill out the yearbook application form that is attached and give the recommendation to the English teacher here at McEachern who knows you best.

WRITTEN WORK SAMPLE

4. Complete one of the following work samples.

This should be an example of your best writing. Topics are limitless! You may submit a recently written essay for your English class if you have not written outside of class. Please type the writing sample, and be sure your name is on your work. You may attach it to the yearbook application.
