2009-2010

The McEachern High School curriculum is evaluated and modified based on input provided by faculty, students, and parents.  Each year new courses are introduced and other courses are deleted in order to provide the best educational opportunities possible for our students.
Developing a schedule involves a series of steps designed to enable students and parents to make careful selections of the most appropriate courses.  Course selections should be based upon a student’s academic ability and performance, the student’s record of previous subjects taken, and teacher/advisor recommendations.

The registration process will include the following: 

  1. March 2, 2009: Pre-Registration information posted on the school website


  2. March 2-March 9: Careful study of course descriptions and prerequisites by students and parents. Review the course catalogue with your parents, determine which electives you would like to take, and map out a plan before you meet with your counselor for a registration appointment.


  3. March 9, 2009 at 3:45pm:  All students wishing to apply for Minimum Day, Mentorship, Newspaper, Annual, Teaching as a Profession or Work-based Internships must turn in an application to the Senior Office.  Students that do not have an application turned in (and sign the documentation log in the Senior Office) will NOT be considered for Minimum Day, Mentorship, Newspaper, or Annual for next school year.

    ***ALL APPLICATIONS CAN BE PICKED UP IN THE SENIOR OFFICE.  (Minimum Day and Mentorship applications can also be downloaded from the links below.

  1. March 9-20:  Individual student sessions with counselors to make final selections for next year.  Students will meet with counselors (in Social Studies classes) to register for courses next year.

  2. April (dates TBA):  Review course placements, teacher verification of course registration             

Once courses have been selected, the signed registration form becomes a commitment to remain in the chosen classes.  Every effort will be made to accommodate the selections indicated; however, the following factors may affect the student’s final schedule:

  • In the event a course listed in the course offering booklet is not requested by a sufficient number of students, that course will not be scheduled, and the student will be placed in an alternate course of his/her choice.


  • A student who selects two courses that are offered the same period will be placed in only one of these courses and an alternate course of his/her choice.


  • In the event a student has chosen a course and his/her final grade does not meet the prerequisite listed in the course booklet, the schedule will be adjusted accordingly.

AFTER THE REGISTRATION PERIOD IS COMPLETE, STUDENTS AND PARENTS MAY REQUEST CHANGES FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS ONLY: 

  • Student failed/lacks prerequisite

  • Student needs specific course for graduation

  • Student has already passed course

*If a student withdraws from, or changes, a course for any reason after 10 days into the semester, the student will receive a grade of 10% for that class.  The “F” becomes a part of the student’s grade point average.
