National Signing Day

On National signing day 2015, McEachern High School football program is taking the time to honor some of it’s senior football players who are making commitments to play college football somewhere in 2015.  This senior class has been the only class in school history to have played in the state semi-finals for 2 consecutive years.  They leave a great legacy for future classes to follow including 2 10+ win seasons, state record breaking offensive performances and a region championship their sophomore years.  Two of our class of 2015, have already physically departed from the campus, both making their way to Pacific Twelve Conference schools where they are currently enrolled as first semester freshmen.  This duo includes Offensive Lineman Chuma Edoga, who is enrolled at the University of Southern California and Taj Griffin who is studying at the University of Oregon.  Both of these McEachern greats were on the U.S. Army All American East Squad which played on national television in January.  Chuma was twice All State as an offensive lineman and received All America Honors in the pre-season from The Sporting News.  These young men were also participants in the Junior Elite Classic, last season and during the summer, were featured on E.S.P.N.’s, “The Opening”, which displays the nation’s best upcoming football talent.  Griffin scored the top 40 yard dash time in the event, coming off of an All State performance as a junior.  Griffin was also rated as the top All Purpose back in the nation.  T.J. Rahming is our next speedster who will be headed to Duke University.  Like Griffin & Edoga, T.J. was also a member of the U.S. Army All American team and notably scored two touchdowns on national television.  Additionally, T.J. earned All State honors as both a junior and senior and leaves McEachern with almost 3,000 career yards as a receiver, which places him clearly in the top 25 in Georgia High School History.  Massive Chandler Jones will be accepting a scholarship at the University of Louisville.  This 6-4, 310 pound offensive guard was a participant in the Georgia North-South All Star game, the Cobb Senior Bowl and a member of the Junior Elite Classic in 2014.  Defensive back Andrew Heyward will be accepting a scholarship at East Tennessee State.  Andrew had 3 interceptions in 2014 and 11 tackles with one assist in his first year in the secondary.  As a junior he served as a utility player on offense as a wide receiver, runningback and wildcat quarterback….he earned a slot on the 2014 Cobb Senior Bowl.  At 6-3, 275 pounds, center, Greg Austin will be playing next season at Georgia Military.  Earning the starting position as a senior, Greg played in the Cobb Senior Bowl, and was also recently honored as the team’s Most Valuable Offensive Lineman and was a team Captain.  Dylan Hamilton who was a first year starter at cornerback ended up with a remarkable year, logging in 95 total tackles with 80 solos and 15 assists.  He also contributed 3 interceptions which caught the eye of Alabama A&M University who will be extending him a scholarship.  A two year starter and bedrock of strength, Fitz Wattley will be accepting a scholarship offer from Coastal Carolina University.  Serving as an outside linebacker as well as a defensive end, Wattley recorded 89 total tackles this season with 9 sacks.  He played in the Cobb Senior Bowl and earned the honor of earning McEachern’s Gold Helmet Award this January which is the team’s highest honor.  Senior Inside Linebacker, Nick DiMassimo will be playing for Davidson University next season.  DiMassimo was the team’s leading tackler in 2014 with 120 overall stops.  Additionally he recorded an interception, played in the Cobb Senior Bowl, was honored as a Team Captain and received the Academic Award for his near perfect g.p.a.  Defensive back, Tyler Woodley will be accepting a scholarship to Florida A&M.  Tyler had 61 tackles this season, his second as a starter, had 2 interceptions and even a touchdown, was honored as the Team’s Foxhole Award Winner and appeared in the Cobb Senior Bowl.  Cameron Magee will be accepting a scholarship to the University of West Georgia.  After missing much of 2013 with an ankle injury he was able to make a comeback in 2014, where he would start every game at inside linebacker and total 110 tackles.  Cameron also was a team captain and appeared in the Cobb Senior Bowl.  We have a couple of other worthy football seniors who should also be finalizing scholarship offers in the coming weeks.  They include defensive back DaMarcus Morgan, receiver, Jeremiah Shaw and defensive lineman Tavon Johnson.  They have set the bar very high for future classes.  Thank you class of 2015.
