Colquitt turns one-point deficit into 37-point victory, spoils McEachern’s run

MOULTRIE — After McEachern staked a 17-7 first-quarter lead, Colquitt County took charge and never let up, en route to a 57-20 victory Friday in the semifinals of the Class AAAAAA state playoffs at Mack Tharpe Memorial Stadium.

McEachern quarterback Bailey Hockman threw for 325 yards and two touchdowns, but Colquitt County (14-0) turned two of his five interceptions into touchdowns, and Chase Parrish’s 65-yard touchdown pass to Ty Lee with 4:19 remaining in the third quarter gave the Packers a 29-20 lead.

Colquitt County will take on Archer in next Saturday’s state championship game at the Georgia Dome, while McEachern (10-4) saw its season come to a close in the semifinals for the second straight year.
